Our number one policy…
All products at SilverBirch jewellery are quality assurance checked when booked to stock and again before they are despatched to our customers. You can expect only superior quality jewellery to be delivered to you.
Silver jewellery…
All of our jewellery is produced from Sterling Silver, which is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% alloy (other metals).
Due to pure silver being a very soft metal it would be unsuitable for 100% silver to be used for jewellery as it would easily go out of shape. This is the reason why pure silver is mixed with other metals such as copper to make it more durable.
Hallmarking…
In the UK there is a law, which requires all silver items over the weight of 7.78g to contain a hallmark.
The hallmark is an assurance that the piece of jewellery has been tested to UK Assay Office standards. A full hallmark must only be applied by one of the four Assay Offices in the UK, Sheffield, Birmingham, London or Edinburgh.
A hallmark should not be confused with the manufactures “925” stamp as this does not guarantee that the product is Sterling Silver.
Gemstones…
Gemstones used in Silverbirch jewellery are regularly tested by our Gemmologist to identify that all stones are as described and genuine.
